Refreshing Green Smoothie

I started having green smoothies about a year ago and I’ve been enjoying them daily ever since. On the few occasions when I do not get to have one of these wonderful drinks, I crave them. Almost immediately after starting on green smoothies and generally upping my consumption of raw food,I felt my energy levels going up, I lost a bit of weight, I’ve been sleeping better and generally feel and look healthier.
Green smoothies are a great way to consume a great amount of greens in a quick and efficient way and get all these important nutrients in your diet. And they also taste amazing, so all good!

This recipe is lovely on a hot day or any day really. Go easy on the ginger as it has a very strong flavour, especially in its raw form but it makes this smoothie so refreshing that I wouldn’t omit it. It is also wonderfully good for you. It has some well known anti-inflammatory properties and might even help in reducing blood pressure.

Refreshing Green Smoothie

Serves 1
Dietary Vegan, Vegetarian
Meal type Breakfast, Smoothie

Ingredients

  • 2 handfuls spinach
  • 1 Granny Smith Apple
  • 1 Large Orange
  • 1 Frozen banana
  • 1/3 Cucumber
  • 1 knob Fresh ginger (small)
  • 1 cup Water
  • 1 or 2 tablespoon Raisins

Directions

Put all the ingredients in your blender and whizz! Enjoy.
